BMW Authis Gene | Sketches
1. July 2010 · No comments
Hey - long time passed since the last post - was covered under work. Sophie, Adrian and me presented the project last Friday to Mr. Friedrich and Mr. Hausmann from BMW. We finished preperations of model and poster 10mins before it started… stress pure. We didn’t even have time to talk it through. Sophie started with concept and idea and handed it over to me to present ideation and approach … I totally had to improvise but somehow it worked out. They especially liked our grade of innovation and the shape of the sleek mode.
Some sketches before the tape. More coming up soon!

I only like fillets I can eat
5. May 2010 · No comments
Working on the Alias model and its just too little time and hardly no sense for manual fillets. the ‘110h’ weeks have started now. We have to have a deep drawing form ready on the 17th so the guy from BMW picks it up and brings it to Munich where the modelmakers can thermoform it. we also give them a block out of which they will mill our underbody - which we almost built in clay (thanks to Adrian and Sophie) and which we want to 3D-scan… I think you get the point - no session for sleeping or doin stuff besides the FH. Sucks.

BMW | early scribbles
22. April 2010 · No comments
Here are two very early sketches to the project. The above ones should illustrate an idea we had of tiles kind of floating on a surface and act as armor plates. In the sleek mode the would be hidden in a pocket beneath the cabin and in the rough mode they would be spread on the sides to keep off sticks and stones^^. The second one is way closer to our final concept. The idea was to lift the sleek cover like you roll up your sleeves when you work hard.
